IMHA Urges Uzodimma to Unlock State’s Mineral Potential

The Imo State House of Assembly has taken a significant step towards unlocking the state’s economic potential by calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma to direct the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency to conduct a comprehensive identification and articulation of all mineral resources and raw materials in the state.

This move aims to harness the state’s abundant mineral resources to drive economic growth and development.

The motion, sponsored by Chief John Lioba Iheoha, representative of Ikeduru Constituency, highlights the importance of identifying, documenting, and promoting Imo State’s mineral resources to attract potential investors and entrepreneurs.

According to Chief Iheoha, the state’s mineral resources, if well-harnessed, would create job opportunities, attract investments, and increase the state’s revenue.

The House has also urged the Governor to mandate the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency to gather a comprehensive database and promotional materials highlighting Imo State’s investment potential.

This, it said, would enable the agency to publish the information on all print and electronic platforms, including social media, to attract investors and promote the state’s economic development.

The ball is now in Governor Hope Uzodimma’s court to direct the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency to take the necessary steps to identify and promote the state’s mineral resources.

If implemented effectively, this move could have a significant impact on the state’s economy and improve the lives of its citizens.

This development has generated excitement among Imo residents, who believe that it would unlock the state’s economic potential and create new opportunities for growth and development.

C-Advocate reports that among the state’s mineral resources is natural gas, with Imo boasting of having the largest deposits of the resource yet untapped.

In May, the Anoh gas plant started production, a feat which experts predict is capable of catapulting economic growth in Imo state.
