Ibeku Community Celebrates Presentation of Eze-elect, Chief Obinna Emenike 

The Ibeku Nweke Autonomous Community in Ibeku Okwuato, Aboh Mbaise Local Government

Area of Imo State, came alive with Celebration, as the Eze-elect of the community, Chief Obinna Emenike Ethelbert, was formally presented to the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Barrister Iheukwumere Alaribe. 

The event, held at the Council Headquarters, attracted government officials, traditional rulers, clergy, and hundreds of jubilant indigenes from Ibeku kingdom who trooped out to witness the historic occasion.

In his address,  Alaribe commended the people of Ibeku for the peaceful and transparent process that led to the emergence of their new Eze-elect.

 He described the development as a mark of maturity and unity within the community, especially after the passing of the former Eze-elect, Chief Charles Iheanetu, two years ago. 

According to him, “The people of Ibeku have demonstrated rare understanding and love for peace. Your orderly conduct in selecting a new Eze-elect is commendable and worthy of emulation across Aboh Mbaise.”

The council boss further assured the gathering of his readiness to present Chief Emenike to the appropriate state authorities for onward approval by the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, in line with the state’s traditional institution regulations. 

“It is my duty to ensure that your choice is properly transmitted to the state government for the governor’s approval. I have no doubt that Chief Emenike will bring pride and progress to Ibeku and the entire Aboh Mbaise,” he added.

Alaribe also used the opportunity to urge the people to support the ongoing programs and policies of the Imo State Government. 

He noted that the administration of Governor Uzodinma remains committed to rural development, road infrastructure,  and community empowerment. 

“The government has initiated several projects for the wellbeing of our people. I encourage you to key into these programs and partner with the local government to ensure lasting growth,” he said.

Reacting to his presentation, the Eze-elect expressed deep appreciation to the chairman and the people of Ibeku for the confidence reposed in him.

Our correspondent reports that Emenike was given a hero’s welcome at the two community halls, where traditional music, dances, and cheers echoed throughout the area.

 In his brief address, the Eze-elect pledged to be “an Eze for everyone” and promised to lead with fairness, humility, and vision.

The Eze-elect further called on individuals with opposing opinions to put the past behind them and unite for the progress of Ibeku. 

“Our community needs everyone to move forward. This is not the time for division or confusion. I am extending a hand of friendship to all; let us build a peaceful and prosperous Ibeku together,” he said, 

Also speaking, the President-General of Ibeku Nweke Autonomous Community, Nze Collins

Ogugume; the Youth Leader, Comrade Onyeachu Ikenna; the Women Leader, Mrs. Margaret Okoro, and community member Mr. Iyke, described Chief Emenike as a man of impeccable character, humility, and wisdom. 

They said his reputation as a unifier and community builder made him the natural choice for the throne. 

The celebration ended with prayers and traditional displays, as the people of Ibeku reaffirmed their collective support for their new Eze-elect and looked forward to a new era of peace and progress.
