Organizers of the Game on Africa Tournament (G.O.A.T) 2025 have said that the tournament will kick off in Nigeria on October 4.

The tournament’s Project Coordinator, Lady Jennifer Anusiem said this while addressing newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday.

Anusiem said that the G.O.A.T 2025, an U-19 football competition which will be played in Nigeria and Ghana simultaneously, will kick off in Ghana on October 7, with registration of interested club sides from both countries ongoing.

“ Registration for the tournament ends September 30 in Nigeria and October 2 in Ghana; interested club sides will pay a registration fee of N50,000 for Nigeria and 1,000 cedis for Ghana

Prince Emeka Nwankwo , a UK based sports administrator and Facilitator of the tournament, said that his decision to organize the tournament was borne out of a strong passion for sports despite setbacks as a youth.

He added that winners from each of both countries will lock horns to determine overall winners who will eventually play the U-19 team of English premier league giants Westham FC, in what has been described as a UK – Africa link up.

He also said that winners from Nigeria would go home with a cash prize of N1m and N500,000 for runners-up, while their Ghanaian counterparts would be awarded a cash prize of 5,000 cedis.

“ The tournament will be played in Lagos, Abuja, Imo and Enugu, as well as in Greater Accra, Ashanti and Oti regions. Exact venues in the selected locations will be announced accordingly”, he said.

Our correspondent reports that the U-19 tourney, the first of its kind, will provide a platform for youth talent showcase, opening the door to talent hunt opportunities.
