ALGON Chairmen Triumph Over Imo Lawmakers in Thrilling Golden Jubilee Novelty Match

In a vibrant display of unity and sportsmanship, the Association of Local Government Chairmen

(ALGON) in Imo State clinched victory over members of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) during a colorful novelty football match at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Friday.

This exciting encounter formed a key highlight of Imo State’s golden jubilee celebrations, marking 50 years since the state’s creation. 

Football’s enduring appeal shone through as it bridged the worlds of governance and recreation, drawing cheers from a packed crowd of residents, officials, and enthusiasts.

The match blended administrative rivalry with athletic flair, showcasing skills that surprised many onlookers familiar only with the players’ political roles. 

Governor Hope Uzodimma kicked off the game in style, joining a host of dignitaries including political leaders, government officials, sports administrators, and prominent state figures. 

Their presence elevated the event, infusing it with the prestige and communal spirit befitting Imo’s milestone anniversary.

More than mere entertainment, the fixture underscored Imo State’s dedication to grassroots sports development.
