SeeSay Reporting Radio Program: Your Right to Health Insurance

The Civil Society Centre of CSAAE successfully hosted another edition of its SEESAY Reporting Radio Program today the 3rd day of June 2026.

Seesay is an interactive citizen engagement platform that enables members of the public to call in, share their experiences, ask questions, and report issues affecting their communities.

The focus of today’s edition was Health Insurance and Access to Quality Healthcare Services. The discussion centered on educating listeners about the meaning of health insurance, its benefits, how to enroll, and why every individual and family should consider obtaining a health insurance plan.

During the program, listeners actively participated through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, making the session highly engaging and informative.

One of the callers expressed frustration over his previous attempts to obtain health insurance. According to him, he had visited the relevant offices several times without success and felt that accessing health insurance was more difficult than it appeared.

In response, the program provided clarification on the enrollment process and emphasized that health insurance registration may take some time before activation. The caller was subsequently connected to CSAAE‘s Health Program Unit for further support and guidance. His contact information was obtained and forwarded to the Health Officer for follow-up and assistance.

Another caller sought clarification on whether a single health insurance subscription could cover an entire family. It was explained that health insurance is generally registered on an individual basis; however, there are family-oriented packages and group plans that provide more affordable and subsidized rates for households. The caller was informed about available options and encouraged to speak with the Health Officer for detailed guidance on selecting a suitable package.

Throughout the discussion, emphasis was placed on the importance of health insurance in reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. Practical examples were provided to help listeners understand how unexpected medical emergencies can place significant financial burdens on families. It was highlighted that health insurance can help cover a substantial portion of medical bills, thereby protecting households from financial hardship during periods of illness or emergencies.

The program concluded by encouraging members of the public to take advantage of available health insurance opportunities and seek professional guidance where necessary. Listeners with questions, complaints, or those interested in enrolling for health insurance were advised to contact the CSAAE Health Officer for support or call 081-6504-7214 for issues on human rights abuse, bad governance and breach in the rule of law.
