Victorious Grace Charity Foundation, a US – based charitable organisation, has offered free eye care services and distributed medicated glasses, food and clothing items to 900 persons in Nigeria.
The foundation’s Vision Bearer, Mrs Ngozi Kelechi, said this while speaking with newsmen at a community outreach organised by the foundation, in Owerri, on Monday.
Kelechi, represented by the foundation’s Eastern Zone Coordinator, Mrs Gloria Onugwu, said that the beneficiaries of its community outreach programme were drawn from five different locations across Nigeria.
She listed the locations to include Emii in Owerri North council area and Okplala in Ngor-Okpala council area, both in Imo, as well as Abakaliki in Ebonyi, Mowe in Lagos and another location in Ogun.

“ This is a two-day community outreach program in five locations across Nigeria, with each beneficiary getting free eye checks and free medicated glasses and medicines.
“ Also, beneficiaries, especially needy women have each received a 10kg bag of rice and a wrapper, as part of our charitable donations to humanity “, she said.
The Assistant Coordinator, Eastern Zone, Mr Francis Ukachi, advised governments at all levels to be more practical about addressing the needs of the downtrodden in the society.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Martins Nwachukwu, an Octogenarian, appreciated the organisation for the free health services and urged other good spirited Nigerians to toe the line.
Mrs Ngozi Oluibe, a beneficiary, praised the foundation for the gesture and prayed divine blessings on the programme.
Seven-year-old Chidiebube Nwachukwu who complained of irritation in his eyes, was hopeful that his needs would be effectively addressed.
Also, Mrs Chizoba Echefula, aged 93, who got a pair of free reading glasses, a wrapper and a bag of rice, said that it a prayer answered as she could visibly not contain her excitement.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the faith based foundation also carries out periodic outreaches to private homes, hospitals, schools and prisons, among others.
