Breaking: Iconic Designer, Giorgio Armani Dead at 91

Giorgio Armani, the iconic Italian fashion designer and founder of the renowned luxury brand Giorgio Armani, has died at the age of 91.

Armani passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at his home in Milan, surrounded by his loved ones, the Armani Group announced in a statement.

The company described him as an indefatigable creative force who dedicated himself to his work until his final days, overseeing his collections and numerous ongoing projects.

Born in 1934 in Piacenza, Italy, Armani initially studied medicine and served in the military before shifting to fashion.

He launched his brand in 1975 with his partner Sergio Galeotti, quickly rising to become one of the most influential designers globally.

Armani revolutionized fashion in the 1980s with his unstructured, soft-shouldered suits that blended masculine and feminine aesthetics, redefining power dressing for both men and women.

His designs became synonymous with luxury, elegance, and sophistication, making him a cultural icon and the embodiment of modern Italian style.

Throughout his career, Armani expanded his empire beyond clothing into accessories, fragrances, cosmetics, and luxury hospitality.

Despite the death of his partner in 1985, Armani persevered and built a fashion house valued in the billions, maintaining near-total ownership and control until his passing.

Known for pioneering online haute couture shows and his philanthropic contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Armani remained deeply involved in his company and industry innovations until the end.

The Armani Group, along with family and employees, expressed profound sorrow and a commitment to preserving Armani’s legacy with respect, responsibility, and love.

Plans for a gradual transition of leadership within the family and close associates had been discussed by Armani in recent years.

Giorgio Armani leaves behind a lasting legacy as a visionary designer and entrepreneur who fundamentally shaped the fashion world.

His death marks the end of an era for Italian fashion and the global luxury industry.
