Heartland FC Secures Partnership to Market Players Globally, Reposition Club for Success

Emmanuel Amunike, Technical Adviser to Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Imo State, has announced a new partnership with Dutch football scout Mr. Tom Sanders to boost player marketing and elevate the club’s performance. The collaboration aims to promote Heartland players to clubs across Europe, America, and Asia while working to reposition the club for greater success.

Speaking to members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State chapter, on Thursday, Amunike explained that Sanders is an old friend with extensive experience in marketing African talent globally. Sanders, who played alongside stars like Austin Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo, brings over 25 years of expertise in placing young players in top international markets.

Amunike assured that Sanders, a FIFA-licensed scout, will help Heartland FC reach new heights by enhancing standards and securing marketing opportunities. He also revealed plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with Sanders to formalize their partnership. The technical adviser acknowledged internal challenges have affected the club’s fortunes but expressed commitment to resolving these issues and restoring Heartland to its former glory.

Sanders, a former professional who played for prominent European clubs in Germany, Austria,

Poland, and England, confirmed his mission to harness player potential for opportunities beyond Africa. He praised Heartland’s young talents identified during training and commended Amunike for his internationally recognized coaching style.

The scouting agent emphasized the importance of detailed player data, noting clubs seek versatile players with strong physicality, mental alertness, speed, and dedication. This data-driven approach aims to maximize players’ appeal to prospective clubs worldwide.

Barrister Ifeanyi Dike, Chairman of the Imo State Football Association, welcomed Sanders’ involvement, describing it as a timely step to nurture African talent. Dike commended Amunike for involving the state association, recalling successful precedents like collaborations between Ajax Cape Town and Ajax Amsterdam, and historical efforts to link local clubs with international teams.

Highlighting the commercial potential of football, Dike stressed that success depends on players’ physical fitness, discipline, and coachability. He pledged full support from the Football Association for initiatives designed to grow Heartland FC’s stature, noting that Imo State has produced more national and international footballers than any other state.

Dike further clarified that the collaborative program is inclusive, benefiting not only Heartland players but any talented footballer with potential, regardless of their club affiliation. This initiative promises a broader impact on nurturing football talent across the region.
