Six Months On, Senate Blocks Natasha’s Return to Red Chamber

Following the expiration of a six month suspension slapped on Senator Natasha

Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Niger Senate, the Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district has made efforts to return to office.

Her efforts however met a brick wall following the refusal of the Senate to grant her request to return to work.

In a letter transmitted to the embattled senator through the office of the clerk to the National Assembly, the senate said it would rely on the outcome of a pending matter before the Appeal Court to determine whether she would be allowed to return to the office.

Recall that Natasha, of the PDP, has been embroiled in an impasse with Senate President Godswill Akpabio following allegations of attempted sexual assault and exploitation which led to her suspension from the senate.
