The furnishing of a Bar Centre located in Aboh Mbaise council area of Imo has experienced setbacks for reasons not made public.
Residents of the area and judiciary stakeholders have decried the abandonment of the project, a year 2022 Zonal Intervention Project (ZIP).
Our correspondent reports that the Centre has remained under lock and key since the abandonment of the project.
This has resulted in delayed judicial proceedings and dispensation of justice.
A lawyer at the Aboh High Court, Mr Udo Chibundu, told C-Advocate that “ the Centre has been locked for a long time “ due to a lack of furnishing.
He said that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had yet to use the Centre as there were no chairs or other furnishing.
Another lawyer, Mrs Blessing Odinka said: “It is demeaning of us to have a bar centre and not be able to use it. This has to be corrected “, she said.
C-Advicate reports that grasses have overtaken the Centre and the sign post has been washed off, leading to a halt of all activities of the NBA in the Centre.
C-Advocate therefore calls on the Federal Government and the contract awardees to return to site and expedite action on the Centre.
This will help facilitate growth of the judiciary in Imo state and restore the people’s confidence.
