As part of activities marking World Health Day, C-HEALTH, a brainchild of the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE), has taken its health screening to Ekeobi in Owalla community, Owerri North council area of Imo state.
The CSAAE carried out the intervention in collaboration with Mark of Glory Specialist Hospital and support from St. David Hospital, Feodora Pharmacy, Milian Pharmacy, and Ebenezer Pharmacy.
C-Advocate reports that the event attracted over 150 community members, with more than 100 individuals receiving comprehensive health screenings.
According to the C-Health Officer, Mr Stephen Amadi, the program featured health screenings for malaria, HIV, hepatitis B and C, and free eye screening.

Amadi said that reading glasses were also provided to those in need, and participants received sound education, health awareness, health insurance and promotions as well as expert advice on healthy practices and disease prevention.
He added that the initiative increased access to healthcare services for community members, facilitated early detection and intervention for potential health issues, and promoted health awareness and education among participants.
According to him, beneficiaries of the program were encouraged to always enroll, use and access their health insurance and save less on out-of-pocket payments for health expenses.
“ The success of this event underscores the importance of partnership in improving community health.

“ C-HEALTH’s collaboration with its partners demonstrated the positive impact that can be achieved through collective efforts.
“ C-HEALTH’s World Health Day event effectively promoted health awareness, health insurance and provided essential services to the Ekeobi Community.
“ CSAAE looks forward to building on this success through future collaborations and initiatives.
“ To sustain the momentum in our selfless services at C-HEALTH, we will continue to reach out the communities, vulnerable populations and hard to reach areas in and outside the state through our community outreach programs, expanding services to reach more communities, and strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers and organizations” Amadi said.
