How CSAAE’s Back-to-School Initiative helped 13-year-old Dominion

Education is a fundamental right, yet for many children, it remains a distant dream due to financial hardship.

C-EDU, an initiative of CSAAE’s Socio-Economic Program Area, is committed to bridging this gap, one child at a time.

On February 14, 2025, C-Edu helped Dominion Desmond Nwasor, a 13-year-old boy who had been out of school due to financial constraints.

Through C-Edu’s Back-to-School Pack Initiative, Dominion was provided with the necessary materials to return to school, not as a poor boy who could not achieve basic learning materials, but, as as a complete student.

This, the C-Edu can confirm, offered him a renewed opportunity to learn, grow and dream again.

Dominion is one of five children born to Mr. Desmond Nwasor, an auto mechanic, and Mrs. Winifred Nwasor, a housewife.

Financial struggles forced the family to withdraw two of their children, including Dominion, from school, leaving only three of their siblings to continue their education.

When he spoke with C-Edu representatives,  Nwasor shared how the economic hardship in his community has affected his earnings and his work as a mechanic.

He said that people could no longer afford professional repairs and instead, tried to fix their vehicles by themselves.

With minimal income and a family to feed, Nwasor said he had no choice but to keep Dominion at home and one of his siblings at home.

Despite these concerns, Dominion and his parents were overjoyed when he received his Back-to-School Pack.

His father, filled with gratitude, called upon his own father to bless the C-Edu team, the CSAAE’s sponsors, and everyone who made it possible.

The Headmistress of Central School Mbutu, Mrs. G. N. Okoro, also prayed for the CSAAE, acknowledging how much of a difference this act of kindness made.

Our correspondent reports that the CSAAE remains committed to providing Back-to-School Packs to children in need, ensuring the safety of pupils, teachers, and school property through perimeter fencing and deployment of trained security personnel as well as  providing a conducive learning environment through the renovation or construction of classrooms and the provision of comfortable chairs/desks for students.

The CSAAE also  improves the health, safety, and well-being of pupils by providing potable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and enhancing teaching and learning by capacity-building for teachers, providing critical learning materials, and establishing ICT laboratories, libraries, and school kits.

The CSAAE therefore calls on good-spirited, philanthropic Nigerians as well as government at all levels, to support Children’s education by supporting school infrastructure projects, or donating to provide learning materials.
