Nigeria at 65: A clarion call for sustainable integral development

As Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, CSAAE joins the nation in honoring our shared history, cultural richness, and enduring spirit.

This milestone is a moment of pride, but also a time for sober reflection on the challenges that continue to hold us back. Despite our abundant human and natural resources, Nigeria still struggles with issues of poverty and underdevelopment including high youth unemployment, poor access to quality education and healthcare, underdeveloped infrastructure, and a growing digital divide.

These developmental challenges, largely caused by failure of leadership, continue to hinder integral development and national progress. At CSAAE, we believe that sustainable development should be integral and over the past decade, we have launched various initiatives to address poverty and underdevelopment in more integral and sustainable ways.

These initiatives reflect our theory of change that if young people are equipped with the appropriate skills, adequate resources and sound ethical values, then they become catalysts of sustainable integral development, transforming communities and building better societies where all can find support and encouragement to work hard, live in dignity and feel proud to belong.

The initiatives include:

CTVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training): A Skills Development Centre (SDC) that trains and equips young Nigerians with relevant tech and vocational skills, helping bridge the digital divide and expand access to the global economy. Learn more at ctvet.csaaeinc.org

C-Jobs: A job centre that facilitates job and internship placement for trained youth through partnerships with employers, remote work platforms, and entrepreneurship support. See cjobs.csaaeinc.org

C-Health: A healthcare management and service program enhancing access to healthcare through community outreach, health education, and advocacy for inclusive health policies. The initiative also supports the provision of essential health supplies at affordable rates, helping reduce the financial burden on low-income families. Check out chealth.csaaeinc.org

C-Edu: An education management and service program strengthening foundational learning through school supplies, teacher training, and infrastructure support in rural schools. Visit cedu.csaaeinc.org for details

C-Ethics: An ethics and compliance institute that promotes business and professional ethics, ethical leadership and compliance (cethics.csaaeinc.org).

C-Enterprise: An Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) that supports the initiation and growth of nMSMEs  while creating jobs and driving local development.  Learn more at centerprise.csaaeinc.org

C-Advocate: Our frontline advocacy program aimed at promoting and pursuing rule of law, good governance, anti-corruption, and human rights protection through targeted advocacy campaigns. Our media platforms including our Advocacy Toll-free line (08009001000), C-Advocate Newspaper and TV amplify voices, raise awareness, and drive impact across communities (cadvocate.csaaeinc.org).

As we mark this Independence Day, CSAAE calls for stronger collaboration among government institutions, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and development partners. Together, we can scale impact, drive innovation, and build systems that work for everyone.

Let this day renew our hope and commitment to building a Nigeria that works; a Nigeria where every citizen can find support and encouragement to work hard, live in dignity and feel proud to belong.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.

  1. CSAAE ,has said it all, If these proffered measures are adopted and implemented by our political leaders and Priivate Partners ,Nigeria will be a Country ,the citizens will be proud of. I appreciate CSAAE for all the impactful activities/projects in our rural schools

  2. This is truly the way to go. The message powerfully captures both the pride of Nigeria’s 65 years of independence and the sober reality of the challenges we still face as a nation. I appreciate how CSAAE frames the solution, empowering young people with the right skills, resources, and values as catalysts for sustainable change.
Highlighting the initiatives that reflect this vision not only reinforces CSAAE’s commitment but also inspires hope that transformation is possible when we invest in the next generation of leaders. This approach is exactly what Nigeria needs for integral development.
