Condoles NNL Chairman, Aluo, over mother’s death
Heartland Football Club of Owerri and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in Imo have mourned the death of the club’s former General Manager, Mr Promise Nwachukwu.
This is contained in separate statements issued by the club and the association’s Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday.
Heartland FC described the Late Nwachukwu’s passing as “a painful loss to the club and Nigerian football.”
The club said it received the news of Nwachukwu’s death with shock, noting that Heartland FC would always remain grateful for his nearly two decades of dedicated service.
The club also acknowledged his wider contribution to Nigerian football as Coordinator of the NPFL Club Owners Association.
“ During his time with the club, he served in several capacities, including Assistant Team Manager, Team Manager, Sporting Director and General Manager, contributing immensely to the growth and development of Heartland FC.
“Promise Nwachukwu will always be remembered for his commitment, loyalty and invaluable service to Heartland FC. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the club said.
Also, the swan chairman Chukwuemeka, described the deceased as “a committed football administrator whose passion and selfless service left a lasting impact on Heartland FC and the Nigerian game”.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the entire football community.
“May God grant them the strength to bear this painful loss, and may his soul rest in peace”, he said.
In the same vein, Chukwuemeka shared the association’s condolences over the death of Mrs Bernadette Aluo, mother of the Chairman of the Nigeria National League and Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr George Aluo.
He described Mama Aluo’s passing as a painful loss, not only to the Aluo family but also to the Nigerian sports community.
He prayed that God grants the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and for her peaceful repose.
Our correspondent reports that the Late Nwachukwu died on July 16, following a brief illness.
